The Early Years Foundation Stage

Exploratory play is at the heart of our Early Year’s curriculum.

Play and exploration allow our children to become independent, motivated and proud learners.

Children have the opportunity to develop ideas, understand their feelings and build positive

relationships. We provide a safe and stimulating environment where children are encouraged

to ask question and solve problems.

Early Years learning comprises of 7 areas; 3 prime and 4 specific areas of learning:

The prime areas of learning;

• communication and language

• physical development

• personal, social and emotional development

The specific areas of learning are:Image result for reading cartoon eyfs

• mathematics

• understanding

• expressive arts and design

We have four reception classes, two classes access three spaces, two indoor and one out

door which the children can freely use during the day.

All adults contribute to the assessment of learning through recorded observations. We

observe three focused children weekly from all classes and parents are encouraged to

contribute to this process by providing photos and sharing experiences of their child’s learning

at home.

The school uses 2Simple to record observations and parents are given plenty of opportunities

to come into school and look at these.
