In Year 3 the learning starts to broaden to begin to give children a wider look at the world.
The Year 3’s will start their historical time line journey at the beginning of the Stone Age through to the Iron Age arriving at the Bronze Age. They will experience life as a Stone Age child in Danby for the day!
Learning about light and shadows, the children will have the opportunity to plan and develop their own investigative skills using a range of equipment. Exploring forces will allow them to make moving pneumatic monsters in D.T.
A journey through Italy will see the children learn the life of a Roman and develop their geography skills studying modern day Italy. They will create mosaics and even develop their culinary skills making pizza!
Through the book escape from Pompeii, the children will develop their knowledge of volcanoes and rocks. Exploring fossils and visiting local beaches.
In summer the children develop their understanding of local areas, building on this knowledge looking at our location within the wider world. Followed by a study of North America, developing their artistic side studying Andy Warhol and developing some creative Pop Art pieces.
