Mrs Jenkinson

Assistant Headteacher, Inclusion Lead, Behaviour Lead, Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead, SENDCo

Hello! I’m Mrs Jenkinson.

I’ve worked at Gladstone Road since 2003. In this time, I have had many roles including Class Teacher, Year Leader and KS2 Assistant Head.

In the Autumn term of 2019, I stepped into the role of Inclusion Lead and I have to admit, I think that I have found my niche. Inclusion has become my passion. Within this role and as SENDCo, I am dedicated to supporting children who have specific needs alongside their families. Having taught here for many years, I have a good understanding of the school, the children, their families and our community which is important for this role.

Within school, I am part of a much larger team of staff who are fully committed to helping all children to achieve their best. I believe that all children can ‘Learn to Succeed’, some just need a little more support on the way. This is where my role fits into our provision. This support will include working with staff, children, parents and outside agencies to provide children with the appropriate plans and targets to enable them to make progress in learning and life.

When in school, I can often be seen in the playground, the classrooms or supporting a group of children. I am always amazed at how resilient the children are in our school, even when things are challenging. I also enjoy celebrating achievements and seeing the look of realisation on a child’s face when they finally understand something. I think these are highlights that make my role so rewarding.
