Hi, my name is Jane McLeod and I am the Safeguarding Lead at Gladstone Road Primary School and work closely with the Inclusion Team and the Learning Mentors.
I have worked here since 2007 when I relocated from Manchester, and it is a wonderful place to work. I’ve always felt that the school has a feeling of warmth and care for all the children that attend, and indeed the staff who work alongside each other.
I feel that a child is on a journey when they start school, and it has been lovely to see children arrive in Reception, watch them grow and learn until we say ‘bon voyage’ to them in year six, where they then begin their next journey to secondary school.
I feel that it is important to keep children safe, cherished and cared for and to have all their basic needs met. There are many ways in which myself and school staff can support parents and families in achieving this.

In my free time I like to spend time with my family and my two Boston Terriers, Dexter and Hobbs.
I find the Scarborough coast a beautiful place to live and don’t miss the big city of Manchester at all. I feel very lucky to be able to enjoy our breath-taking coastline and to enjoy working in such a vibrant, happy and dynamic environment on a daily basis.
