I have been teaching for 15 years, starting my teaching career in Bradford before
moving with my family to Scarborough. Over the years I have taught in most year
groups and thoroughly enjoyed each and every one. In 2017 I joined Gladstone Road
to teach Year 6 and I have loved every minute because of the fantastic ethos and
amazing curriculum opportunities the school offers.
I am passionate about teaching and building confidence, high aspirations and a love
of learning in all children.
My subject leadership roles have varied and over the years I have been responsible
for Computing, English and Maths. Now, as English writing lead for KS2, I enjoy
working with children and staff in developing an engaging curriculum with opportunities
to write for real and relevant purposes. I also have a love of reading, which I
endeavour to share, knowing the impact reading has on opening up a world of
learning.
My classroom is a warm and welcoming place, I’m always available to have a chat
about any problems or worries. I do like children to try their very best and will do
everything within my power to help them achieve it, whether it’s through extra help,
with work, or having slightly adapted tasks. I believe everyone should be allowed to
learn at a pace that suits them and in the end every child is capable of understanding,
learning and achieving. I also believe a class is a team and as a team we will all
support and look out for each other.
